We've spent three days in Izmir now, though the first day was pretty much written off as we slept through most of it after our red-eye flight from Berlin.
We did however manage to rouse ourselves from our slumber for a quick bite to eat down at the Kordon, which is a great park looking out on the Aegean Ocean with a long row of restaurants and bars.
Here we are relaxing and waiting for our dinner.
We took a romantic walk down the Kordon back to our hotel and snapped a few night shots on the way.
After a long sweaty night in our Izmir Hotel, which also had no air conditioning (despite them proudly advertising that every room has Air Conditioning), we had a reasonably lazy day.
We took a walk down to the old Bazaar where Jodie bought a few lengths of material and we had a brief look around at some of the market stalls, but the constant hard sell and so many people wanting us to follow them to their store got old pretty quick, and after nearly getting lost in the maze of streets and stalls, we found our way out of the craze of the markets and snapped a couple of shots of one of the squares.
We also made contact with a couple of the people that I worked with in Izmir in 2005, and met up for dinner later that night at a fish restaurant on the Kordon. I'm not usually one for fish, but it was delicious. Jode's really enjoyed the prawns on offer.

It was great catching up with Ozgur and Bulent and hearing all of the latest from Caldag. Bulent was kind enough to organize a private tour of Ephesus for us for the next day.
At the end of dinner we again took a lovely walk down the Kordon and couldn't resist a few more night shots. Unfortunately we again forgot the tripod, but we'll try to remember it next time for a few late night shots.
This is a great night shot of the Kordon.
